The Main Room
The Main Room is the first room we built at Knockwood. Initially we built it as an all-in-one recording room, although we now have a dedicated live room we often find ourselves recording overdubs in the main room as it allows for immediate communication between the artist and the production team. The ‘Main Room’ hosts our collection of analog synthesisers and our beautiful Yamaha upright piano. A full list of our equipment can be seen here.
The Live Room
We are lucky to have a dedicated live room at Knockwood, with 14 mic inputs straight through to the Main Room. Our live room was built to be ‘super-dead’ for tight drum sounds and to allow for close-intimate recordings. Although it is acoustically dry inside the Live Room, mic’s can be placed in the corridor for some old school ambience. Our live room is home to our marimba, guitar amps and most importantly our drum kit. Our drum kit is permanently mic’d up allowing for quick setup and sound checking. Our live room also hosts our infamous studio mascot, the one and only Billy Bass Talkback Fish.
